Things to do during your stay

The peace and quiet of the Sussex countryside surrounding our tipis provides the perfect setting for a relaxed and stress-free holiday, but if from time-to-time you are looking to venture further afield for a day trip there are scores of places to visit ...from castles to beaches and art galleries to steam engines, our part of Sussex has plenty to offer.

But if you are happy to simply kick-back and relax and only need to stock up on provisions, there is a very small local shop and a baker about a mile away, with the nearest big supermarkets located in either Hastings or Rye.

Brede High Wood
This beautiful woodland is right opposite the entrance to our site. 648 acres of woodland to walk around or get a little bit lost in. Brede High Wood is owned and Managed by the Woodland Trust. (see the WoodlandTrust website for this year's events).

Beaches
If you want sand then Camber is the place to be ... miles and miles of it ... but be warned, it does get very busy during the summer months! Our own shoreline favourites are Winchelsea, Rye Harbour and the wonderfully wild and windswept Dungeness, home to the power station and Derek Jarmen's house and gardens.

Rye
A beautifully preserved historic port. Great tea rooms and restaurants. Check out the antique shops on Strand Quay.

Hastings
Explore the Old Town, fishing boats, net shops and a great place to buy fresh fish to cook on your open fire back at the tipi site.

The Giants at Brede
Lovingly restored Victorian waterworks and steam engines ... very Fred Dibnah! Open on the 1st Saturday of each month.

Bodiam & The Castle
What can we say, everyone goes there ... wish we had shares! It is a great day out for all! The Kent & East Sussex railway runs steam trains from Bodium to Tenterden ... nostalgia, steam and scenery that is breathtaking!

Bexhill-on-Sea
Home to the De La Warr Pavilion which is one of the UK's finest example of Modernest architecture and is now a major arts centre.

Horse Riding
Ellenhorne Riding Centre is just a short distance away from the tipi site and hourly lessons are available for children and adults.

Cycle Hire
Bicycles are available from Quench Cycles (www.quenchuk.co.uk). They will deliver to and collect from the site.
