Our Tipis & Tipi site

The name tipi comes from the Sioux words ti, meaning “to dwell or live” and pi meaning “used for”. Fully decked-out, well-lit, ventilated and secure, the tipi is a wonderful way to experience living with nature. Our tipis are made in the USA using high-quality cotton canvas with a waterproof and flameproof finish and the wooden poles are all cut and prepared on-site from locally-grown trees.

Snug as a bug in a rug

Our tipis sleep 2 and 4 people and are beautifully furnished in a traditional North American Indian style with comfortable beds, colourful cushions and rugs and come fully equipped with everything you should need for cooking and washing up.

There's a hot shower and toilets on site and we can offer plenty of wood for cooking on your outdoor open fire. Your tipi will be prepared in advance and made ready for your arrival and we’ll even give you a wheelbarrow to carry your stuff from the car to the tipi. All you need to bring with you is your sense of adventure, your sleeping bags, food, towels, a torch ... and maybe your wellies ... just in case!

Weather happens so it’s important to note that Sussex Tipi Holidays can’t be held responsible for the great British weather ... and as much as we hope that the sun will shine for you for ... please come prepared.

Tipis are nomadic dwellings with a unique construction and in heavy rain a bit of water may seep in at the top where the canvas wraps around the poles. But to make sure that our guests are kept as dry as possible, we have fitted each tipi with a rain catcher that protects the living area.

Happy Campers

Here at Sussex Tipi Holidays our aim is to offer a safe, green and pleasant space for you to enjoy the experience of living in a tipi. We’d love you to be able to leave the worries of everyday life behind and enjoy a slower and more relaxed pace. We don’t have many rules and regulations yet there are just a few things that you should be aware of whilst staying with us.

Car Pooling

The actual tipi grounds are car-free areas, yet there is secure on-site car parking for our guests and we will provide you with wheelbarrows for unloading your gear and getting it across to your tipi. It’s fun, really!

Traveling by Train
If you are arriving by train and need a taxi, please call us as we have several reliable drivers operating from Battle Station. These need to be booked in advance.

Recycling

Recycling is very important to us and we have an area near the shower and toilets which is designated to recycling.
Please recycle and help keep our countryside and campsite tidy.

Site Security

  • Friends are welcome to visit during the day by arrangement, should they decide they want to stay and a tipi is available, please ensure they go through the booking process with us.

  • We are on site to meet and greet all guests and answer any questions you may have.

  • Whilst the general public are not allowed on site, please be aware that there are no locks on the tipis – so think twice about bringing your crystalware and silver goblets or make sure to keep them safely locked away in the boot of your car!

Consideration for others

We want all of our guests to be able to relax and enjoy themselves and hope that fellow campers will be as considerate as possible to other guests. So there are only a few things that we would ask of you:

  • No loud/amplified music.

  • No fireworks anywhere on the site.

  • No extra tents or gazebos in the tipi fields.

  • Please try to arrive on site after 3:00pm and if you are coming from London on a Friday evening, allow ample time for your journey.

  • Please always try to be aware of other people’s need for calm and quiet.

Family Pets

We are sorry but we are no longer able to accept pets on the site.
